If losing weight is one of your New Year’s resolutions for 2013 then the idea of using a weight loss pill may have popped into your head. You might be thinking, “I ought to try out a new weight loss pill to boost my results”. Don’t worry, thousands of others are thinking the same thing. The question is, should you actually pursue using a diet pill?

It Won’t Do All the Work

The diet pill game is very simple; there is no diet pill that will magically remove all of your excess body fat extremely fast. First things first, if you are planning on using a diet pill no matter what you read here, don’t expect miracles. You still need to work for your weight loss, weight loss pills are merely a tool to help you out.

If you’re viewing a new supplement as a tool and nothing more, then you might come out a winner. But, if you’re banking on the pill doing all the work for you, you’ve got a rude awakening headed your way. Diet pills can help, but there’s a reason they have a bad rap.

Here’s the catch all; find a diet pill that will help you accomplish that particular weight loss goal you’re after, cut back on bad eating habits, and try to exercise at least a few times a week. If you were to do this, you might actually see quicker weight loss as a result of using a supplement. Just remember, the weight loss supplement is to be used as a tool, and something that helps you accomplish a health goal that is otherwise very difficult (an example would be using an appetite suppressant to cut back on excessive eating).

Good luck with your New Year’s weight loss resolution and be cautious if you are opting to use a weight loss pill. Remember to stick with reputable companies and not just any pill maker out there.

This will be a very quick reminder about your weight loss and fitness goals for 2013. First and foremost, find out how to really lose weight in 2013 by visiting the homepage. We’ve updated it with basic information as far as what a person should do if they want to lose weight, and have a realistic mindset. Which brings me to the point of this post.

Don’t make the same mistakes when it comes to your weight loss goals. If you tried and failed at losing weight in 2012 then rub it off and move on. 2013 is a new year with new possibilities. It sounds cheesy but it’s true. If you want to lose weight and keep it off you need to:

Have realistic weight loss expectations (don’t expect to lose a ton of weight during the first few weeks)

Exercise regularly in any way you can

Fine tune your eating habits (aka start eating healthier and cut out the junk)

Be consistent

If you realize that you aren’t going to lose dozens of pounds in a week and that successful weight loss takes consistent hard work, then you will see results for the New Year. Remember, head on over to the homepage for a basic guideline as far as how you can finally lose the weight in 2013. Keep it simple and strive to be healthy, weight loss related and otherwise.

It’s quite a dilemma when you’ve got to take medicine for a condition or ailment you may have and it’s exactly that which is causing you to gain an uncomfortable amount of weight. According to the CDC, the use of prescription drugs is only on the rise. This problem will only become more and more common.

Don’t Want To Stop The Medication, Don’t Want To Gain Weight

If you’re someone who takes medication with weight gain as a side effect then you know of the big problem looming around the corner each and every day. It’s not wise to stop taking medications, especially if they are a key component in helping you maintain your health. But it’s also not wise to be obese or overweight. It’s a good ol’ catch 22.

News report detailing a common side effect of weight gain associated with the use of antipsychotic drugs. The focus is on children and the report carries typical news drama. Nonetheless, many prescription drugs have weight gain as a side effect, psychiatric drugs and otherwise.

It doesn’t matter if you’re in a situation where you must attend to mental well being or physical well being. Either way, you know you’ve got to deal with the problem some how. Nobody wants to be fat due to something outside of their control. At least, it may seem like it is outside of your control. The truth is that it is not. There are solutions to your problem.

Simply Talk About It

You can get wound up so tightly in your problems that it becomes hard to breathe let alone seek out a proper solution. This is a case where the problem has a choke hold on you. But it doesn’t have to be so complicated. The first thing you want to do is talk things out with your doctor.

You’ve complained before? Complaining alone won’t solve your issues. Let’s use the example of someone with epilepsy. An epileptic must take an anti-seizure medication in order to address the serious issue at hand. One popular medication used to treat seizures is called Depakote. Guess what? Weight gain is a common side effect.

Many people who take Depakote experience weight gain.

If you were someone who had to take Depakote the way to be proactive about your weight gain issues would be to research other options as far as medications. Then, the next time you see your doctor you could bring up other medications that are more weight neutral and see if any of them are an option for you. This would be going through the proper channels.

Your doctor is there to help you with whatever condition you’re dealing with and getting you on suitable medications is part of the treatment. Talking with your doctor about medications that won’t cause weight gain isn’t always going to be and option but it’s worth giving a shot. The more proactive you are with your doctor then the more likely you’ll come out winning in regards to keeping your weight under control.

Extra Extra Healthy

Getting prescribed a medication that won’t cause weight gain isn’t an option for everybody. It’s a little bit depressing, especially for someone concerned about their weight, but it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road. The other solution to your problem is going to be tougher but you need to know that things can be done. You can have control over your weight and you don’t have to be held back by the medicine you need to take.

What you need to do is to become vigilant about losing weight. You need to get extra healthy. Think about it like this; what does everyone else do with a weight problem? The people who are successful at losing weight are those that have a plan. With a realistic plan you achieve the results you desire.

You need to know what you'll be doing so make a to do list. Just don't make it as morbid as this one.

You can accomplish your weight loss goals. It might be a little harder for you than others. It might take a little more time. But you can do it with a proper plan and by taking action one step at a time.

The idea of talking with your doc about your weight issues is the first thing you need to do as far as your individualized weight loss plan. You won’t be focusing on medications you can switch to but rather the little things you can do, as laid out by the doctor, in order to get on top of your health game. Your doctor/health professional has the knowledge so why not take advantage?

If you’ve already talked to your health care professional about your issues then you want to move on to goal oriented actions. You could start by literally writing out the things you know of, off the top of your head, that you could do in order to lose weight. Keep things realistic, simple, and be detailed as far as how you plan on achieving the steps in your task list.

Getting on top of your eating habits is a must.

The medications you are taking are most likely messing with your natural metabolism in one way or another (slowing things down). You need to do things that are going to compensate for this. Your weight loss journey is different than most people’s because you’re running uphill against an incline that you cannot control. You need to be extra healthy.

You need to:

Start some type of exercise routine

Cut back on the amount of unhealthy food you eat

Eat a balanced diet (get the right amount of protein, vegetables, fruits, grains, and dairy foods)

We are talking about fighting back here. You’ve got to want it! It sucks that you’re set back by a medication or two that you must take but it’s something you need to accept and work in spite of. You need to work a little harder than the rest, so what? You can do it and when you do start seeing results (remember it takes time) the taste of victory will be all the more sweeter. Be sure to check out more of our content below.

Like so many you’ve decided to go on a crash diet in order to put off the weight fast. Losing weight is popular and so is this particular method of going about it. A lot of people go on this type of diet in order to prepare for the warmer months as they’ll be showing more skin but everyone’s reasons are different. But is this the best way to go about losing weight? Do you really know what you’re getting yourself into?

Probably not a good idea. (credit: WebDevSheriff)

How to go on a crash diet? What to eat?

The hype around crash diets is the fact that you’ll drop in weight quickly through dieting alone. In most cases, you are going to drastically cut the amount of calories you take in daily. So when you think about it, eating and crash dieting don’t really play nice together.

You want to lose weight quickly through dieting? And you want to do so by eating very little? It’s quite easy to see the paradox here if you think just a little. I’ll spell it all out for you if it isn’t quite sinking in. There aren’t correct foods to eat when it comes to crash dieting.

Crash dieting is taking the idea of dieting to extreme levels if you will. It’s really not healthy at all. If you have the intention of going on this kind of diet plan then you are probably not to opposed to fasting or essentially starving yourself. You most likely don’t want to here things of this sort but crash dieting just isn’t the way to go towards losing weight.

Crash dieting is like the last resort option of dieting.

Maybe you are very desperate to lose weight. Maybe you need to lose weight in very short period of time. The fact of the matter is your intentions of using this form of dieting are misplaced. You mine as well use a popular diet pill if you’re going after fast results.

It’s not about cutting out everything, it’s about portioning. (credit: choosemyplate.gov)

You need to view your weight loss like the saying “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. The idea is that real results take a lot of time and effort. Yes, drastically cutting the amount of calories you eat daily will result in some weight loss rather quickly. It is also unhealthy and your results won’t last.

Instead of looking at the word dieting as an excuse to eat a biscuit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, see it for what it really is, the health portions of food you eat on a day to day basis. In the world of weight loss people naturally assume that a diet needs to be drastically cutting back on the foods you eat. In reality, your diet should simply be well balanced with healthy cutbacks.

Go the healthy route.

Again, going from your normal eating routine to eating barely anything at all will result in weights loss relatively quickly. But this isn’t healthy by any means and you shouldn’t resort to this kind of method. How will you sustain results you get? You’d have to keep on eating barely anything and by that point your getting into the realm of eating disorders.

Crash dieting is literally a few steps away from an eating disorder. It’s a little unsettling when you think about this popular method in this light but it’s the truth. Just as fad diets, crash dieting just isn’t the way to eat and isn’t healthy. So, do yourself a favor and choose the path that takes a little extra work.

Find a physical activity you enjoy, pursue it, and work on your eating habits. You could most likely lose a little weight by cutting back on the unhealthy foods you eat. Nobody is perfect and just about everyone eats crap food one time or another, some more than others. Take the time to rewire your habits and you’ll make some progress. It’s the kind of change that will stick for you and it doesn’t require eating a cracker a day.

In this society everyone wants to be the best of the best when it comes to all aspects of health. This is especially true when it comes to cognition and having an extra mental edge. How do you go about out smarting the people that surround you? Perhaps your intentions aren’t to be faster, stronger, and smarter than everyone else, but there are many people with these kinds of intentions.

These days, people look in all the wrong places for self improvement.

This kind of reasoning for wanting better memory or cognition in general will most likely lead you down the path of a fuse on its way towards detonating a big bang so to speak.

What I mean by this is that intentions such as these lead people to prescription drugs and so called miracle pills. Essentially, anything that can be popped into the mouth and swallowed. Who knows, maybe 10 years from now we’ll have said miracle drugs with no downsides at all.

What you’ll find on this page:

The best ways to improve your memory and cognition

Understanding the importance of aerobic exercise

The underdog of working out, resistance training

An all in one solution for improving your cognition and physique…at the same time

Real proof, real studies

If you’re an individual simply interested in steadily improving your well being, in this case memory and cognition, through healthy means then you can reach your goals without crashing and burning.

It’s all about the basics and in this case we’ll be taking a look at cardio and strength training as possible ways to enhance your memory and cognition. After all, what would we be without our memories?

It’s long been known that cardio is great for the mind and body. However, resistance training doesn’t get enough of the the spotlight. This is not good.

Cardio Is Amazing For The Mind And Body (But You Already Knew That, Right?)

We know that cardiovascular exercise is good for us, both mentally and physically. There’s tons of research and studies to prove this. If you don’t believe that an individual that jogs for 30 minutes a day is better off health wise than someone who lives a sedentary lifestyle to the fullest (genetics aside), then you must be the most stubborn man or woman on the face of this planet.

The focus here is on resistance training, not cardio exercise. If you didn’t know already, getting yourself into a regular cardio workout regime, of any kind, will have you feeling better and increase your overall health and well being.

It’s also been proven and publicized, time and time again, that cardiovascular exercise improves brain function. Yes, this means that it can improve your memory.

So, get on top of your cardio game if you want a better memory (at the very least, be aware of its potential). Whether it’s Zumba fitness or old fashion jogging, cardio works wonders. But enough about cardio…we’re poking at the other side of exercising here.

Resistance Training Is Exercise Too, And It Sure Can Improve Your Memory

In my eyes resistance training (lifting, strength training, etc.) is the underdog of the exercise and fitness arena. There’s all this talk about how running, jogging, playing team sports, and so on can improve your cognition substantially, but very little regarding resistance training.

Yes, obviously strength training is covered online and off to a great degree but when it comes to it’s ability to improve memory and cognition, cardio takes the publicity cake.

Let’s take a closer look at the concept of strength training improving your memory (or rather, it’s potential to do so). Remember, the point here is to open your eyes to the potential of a healthy lifestyle in general. With that said, this study provided by Oxford Journals provides excellent insight when it comes to resistance training’s ability to improve your memory as well as other aspects of cognition.

The study was performed not on rodents of any sort but rather real living and breathing human beings. In this case it was elderly individuals with an average age of 72 years. Guess what? The results were good. What makes things even more interesting is the fact that the average age of the participants was 72 years old

Supplements can help your anti-aging needs, such as the Omega 3 product pictured above, but nothing beats exercise.

.These older individuals experienced gains in memory performance, strength, as well as overall relief (reduction of anxiety). I’m no scholar, and I urge you to follow the link to the abstract if this study interests you, but to me these kinds of findings are profound. At 72 years old one should be winding down, correct?

To me, this kind of data tells us that we don’t necessarily have to whither away as we age. And more importantly, there is serious opportunity for those much younger to capitalize on the benefits of resistance training. It can’t be possible that these kinds of benefits related to memory and cognition are exclusive to the last act of life.

It’s more likely that the benefits are more apparent when examining elderly individuals. Likewise, this is as close to anti-aging as it gets.

Combine Cardio And Resistance Training – Take Full Control Of Your Mind

There is a point to made among all of this talk about improving your memory and cognition via exercise. This point is that you should really consider adding resistance training to your exercise regime if you do workout regularly. If you don’t already exercise then realize that a combination of aerobic and resistance training exercises will offer you the most potential.

We’ve covered how both forms of fitness benefit the brain and have true anti-aging properties as far as keeping the mind crisp. The mind/body connection is real. It’s just that many gym goers fail to see the value of workouts based around weight training.

You have to ask yourself, why is it that you don’t include resistance training in your workouts? Maybe it is because you don’t want to “bulk up” in terms of lean muscle mass. We’re exploring the possibilities of exercise increasing cognition here, but on the physical side of things this is why many refuse to do anything related to weights.

If you acknowledge the fact that exercise can help you with your mental agility, so to speak, then it’s important to know that just because you include weights in your workouts does not mean you will gain huge amounts of muscle.

Females are more concerned with this irrational fear more so than males (typically) but the truth is that you won’t build large amounts of muscle mass unless you’re really trying for it.

Aerobic Exercise + Resistance Training = A Sound Mind And Body

Exercise is the answer to combating aging, obesity, cognitive deficits, depression, anxiety, and so on. It’s not a miracle drug. It actually requires effort, and a lot of it. The best part about it is that it only requires you to move.

Hopefully, this article got you thinking about all of the benefits that fully diving into both main forms of exercise can do for you and your life. I’ll reiterate once more, the combination of cardio and strength training will give you the mental acuity you seek. On top of that, it’ll give you an extremely attractive physique if you take your workouts seriously.

The problem for most is getting started or becoming overwhelmed as to what to do. If you’re fresh to the game or would like to add resistance training to your fitness efforts then check out P90X. Out of over a 1,000 fitness enthusiasts it holds a near 5 star rating in terms of results, satisfaction, and worth.

Keep in mind that this workout program covers everything. It’s an all in one type of deal in that it covers both cardio and strength training to give you the toned physique you desire.

Check out what consumers are saying here if you’re interested. This workout program alone will give you great results in terms of getting your body in great shape. Resistance training is not to be ignored but implementing it into your routine can be difficult if you have no understanding of the basics.

Cardio, on the other hand, can be solved with a simple jog. In conclusion, find a way to do both strength training and aerobic exercises (P90x is one solution) that suits your individual wants and needs best. After this, don’t look back.

This topic doesn’t only include coffee. You need to be careful with any source of caffeine when combined with working out/lifting to get more out of your workout. From personal experience, I know for a fact that caffeine gives you a boost with your lifts and overall performance.

You’ll find that thousands of other lifters would agree with me. There are even thousands of lifters out there using caffeine to their advantage without even knowing it through the use of a pre-workout supplement. This is because a ton of the most popular pre-workout supplements include caffeine in the mix.

On this page:

Why caffeine boosts physical performance as far as weight lifting goes

Why to proceed with some caution

How to go about using

Popular ways guys go about using caffeine to improve lifts

It’s Easy To Go Too Hard When Using Caffeine As An Aid

Apparently, caffeine is a selective diuretic (agent that increases loss of fluids). This ties in perfectly with the point of this article because it’s all in the amount of caffeine you use in order to get better gains. That article by MedicineNet.com basically tells us that, yes, caffeine is a diuretic but only noticeably so at 360 mg (according to cited studies).

If you use pre-workout supplements this most likely won’t ever be a problem. Or at the very least, there will be less of a chance of caffeine causing harm or over straining your body. Even so, you should always be informed as to what you’re ingesting for your lifts. Don’t ever dive into supplementation without first knowing the fundamentals of lifting.

The caution being presented here is for those of us who like to do things our own way, never mind the consequences. Maybe you know anything and everything concerning bodybuilding, nutrition, supplementation, and are perfectly in tune with your own body. I am not one of these guys, but we are referring to the kings of bodybuilding here.

Basically, there are some of us guys who tend to throw ourselves into situations without first thinking it through. Downing a Monster energy drink after having had coffee earlier on in the day and then jumping into an intense lifting session would be this kind of situation I am referring to.

You’d feel pretty jacked up and ready to do anything, am I right? Of course you would, you just dosed yourself with good ol’ coffee (caffeine) along with the leader of this generation (caffeine + energy blend). Going into a lifting session with a pot of coffee in you is stupid, but this really kicks being a complete idiot into high gear. I should know, I’ve done both.

Just Take It Easy

There’s a reason why people buy caffeine pills. There’s a reason why the pre-workout supplements with caffeine sell so well. Caffeine has the potential to mix very well with certain forms of physical activity, and to ultimately enhance physical performance.

Again, if we take a look at science it is confirmed that caffeine helps. It isn’t necessary as far as knowing that caffeine can enhance physical performance, but this particular journal notes that the greatest benefits of caffeine come from its ability to increase time before exhaustion (aka endurance/what you can achieve with a single workout session). It also enhances physical performance and endurance when the activity is kept at a sub-threshold level (below max intensity).

If you’re a dude that lifts then use this to your advantage. Or anyone for that matter. Even if you aren’t after gaining lean muscle mass you can still use this caffeinated knowledge to your advantage if you do any kind of workout. There’s still a glaring issue here though. What is the exact amount of caffeine you should use for your lifts and what is the best way to ingest your caffeine?

How Should I Get My Caffeine Kick?

You’ll find some of the most popular products lifters/bodybuilders/workout addicts use to get their caffeine buzz going at the bottom of this page. All of the technical information I talked about above concerning the risks of too much caffeine and caffeine’s ability to increase physical performance is just that, pure science.

You don’t want to go into a workout so jacked up on caffeine that you feel as though you’ve taken some amphetamine. Hell yeah, you’re going to get some real nice lifts in. But at the end of it you’ll be left feeling like a dead fish. You’ll also be severely dehydrated and will have over strained your body to the max.

So, the key is to be familiar with how caffeine affects you as an individual. Know your tolerance and know what it does to you. It’s simply a matter of balance because while you don’t want to dose yourself with too much caffeine you also don’t want to be scaling out some caffeine powder from China in order to ingest the scientific caffeine dosage proven to be exact. The latter is a ridiculous example but hopefully you see what I’m getting at.

For some, a single cup of coffee pre-workout might do the trick perfectly without any negatives. For others, a cup of coffee might cause too much dehydration and over strain on the muscles/body to be healthy (along with upset stomach, nausea, etc.). I’ll say it again, this is why your first priority should be to test how your body reacts to different dosages of caffeine. If you’re the type of guy who simply drinks a cup of joe before a workout, it gives you a boost, and you’re left with a healthy workout, then you’re set.

Popular Caffeine/Pre-Workout Products For Boosting Lifts

A very tricky and simple subject all the same. The pure simplicity here is the fact there are grade A caffeine pills available online, backed by consumer reviews, and at a dirt cheap price. These pills give you a guaranteed dosage of caffeine (200 mg in most cases) and a guaranteed result if you already react well to caffeinated substances. See for yourself over at Amazon.com (free shipping, no taxes, proven service, etc.)

Even if you aren’t looking to purchase caffeine in a a convenient form, it’s entertaining in itself to see the kinds of results people report from these caffeine pills. They’re all pretty much positive and glowingly so. You have to wonder, were these people under the influence of the drive caffeine tends to produce while writing the reviews?

We know caffeine pills do the job perfectly, at least in terms of giving you the caffeine you want. But there are other ways of going about getting more pump going before your workouts and these would be pre-workout supplements. If you’re interested in buying pre-workout supplements then I suggest you really look into what other consumers are saying.

The area of pre-workout supplements is the part that’s tricky. In most cases, the popular supplements will contain caffeine as one piece of the puzzle. This means that it isn’t only caffeine that’s giving your body a kick. Below are 2 of the most popular pre-workout supplements and links to real consumer reviews. Why bother with reviews? Because you’re always going to find out about the very ups and the very downs of consuming a weight lifting supplement.

Keep in mind that these are referenced according to what the company names it.

BSN N.O.-Xplode Extreme Pre-Training Performance Igniter (250 consumer reviews)

Made by BSN

Made by USP Labs

Remember, whether it be caffeine pills or pre-workout supplements you may be ingesting for the purpose of gaining lean muscle mass (or any ingestion at all) then remember to always proceed with caution. The best course of action would be to consult your doctor before starting a supplement regime.

Mossi, also known as Mossi Racing, is a company that specializes in active wear/racing/winter gear so that should give you a taste as to what kind of quality they aim to offer. Be sure to keep on reading even if you aren’t keen on the deal right this second as you’ll find out:

Look below to see what the gloves look like and to learn more about how they fair among other consumers and the product itself.

A Pair Of Gloves Is A Pair Of Gloves And These Are Sure To Do The Job

More On These Mossi’s Gloves

Mossi makes plenty of other cold weather gear and their products are generally well received by consumers, just as these gloves are generally well liked among buyers. While there are not many consumer reviews out there, the few that are remain positive for the most part (read real reviews here).

Buyers report that these gloves do the job as far as keeping the hands warm, just as any pair of quality gloves should, so quality is one aspect you don’t have to worry about. The only problems or issues that consumers have with the Mossi Deerskin gloves is that they run small and that they may not be best for harsher winter weather (meaning they may not do so well with moisture; rain/snow).

Mossi’s Black Men’s Snow Pants – Another Popular Piece Of Gear

With this in mind, if you are thinking of investing in these particular gloves you’ll want to take this into account. Basically, you’ll probably want to buy a larger pair than you usually would. But if you go with Amazon.com it’s really no biggie as they’ll quickly exchange your gloves if they don’t fit quite right.

In conclusion, these gloves seem to be a great choice for keeping the hands warm during the bone chilling winter months that many of us unfortunately experience but they may not be the best option for winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding. It is ironic, though, because this is an active wear company. However, what doesn’t work for others might work for you.

It comes down to what works for you and what expectations you have.

Mossi – The Company

As I mentioned before, Mossi makes all kinds of winter weather gear (view their stuff here). You could say they are a contender in the winter weather clothing market. Their most popular type of clothing would be men’s snow pants and it’s interesting because as far as their reputation among consumers, thing’s are a bit of a toss up.

If you’re interested in Mossi’s products then I suggest visiting the link above and if you’re interested in learning more about the company itself then check out the link below to visit the official website. Definitely worth a visit as they pin themselves as offering racing accessories. An active wear sort of deal. Their website is even called mossiracing.com.

Snowboarding is an awesome sport to stay active during the boring winter months. It’s also good for well done action sports documentary films. You might already know about the newish snowboarding movie called Art of Flight as it’s really picked up but it needs to be said that it’s one of a kind. That’s only judging from the teaser trailer for it (also one of a kind) but there are great reviews out there.

The full documentary is available right now. The trailer is worth mentioning on it’s own though. Definitely check out the trailer below. Also has some great music done by Anthony Gonzalez and Curt Morgan. The way I see it, M83 fits perfect with just about any epic film.

The name of the collaboration between the 2 is called Three Corners of the Earth and the song, The Fire Shall Devour Us. Couldn’t think of better music to fit this trailer.

Check out the DVD/Blu-Ray combo on Amazon.com or go digital with Itunes.
